I have been very busy over the past few months. I made a Valor quilt for my brother who is a USMC veteran who served in the Gulf War in 1991. I finished a pair of socks for my sister-in-law that were started by her mother before she passed away in July 2013. I also had some of the sweaters her mother was working on completed by a local finisher. They came out beautiful and all were given to Abby for Christmas this year.

Laurel's Socks
The bear below is wearing one of the sweaters Laurel started and I had finished for her by a wonderful finisher here in Las Vegas. |

I also designed and made the quilt below for my boss. Her father was a minister and she is a very active member of her church and sings in the choir.

Sean's valor quilt is proudly displayed over the power recliner in the man cave. Fitting, yes? My cherished sweater cub, socks and cardigan all spend time with me in the craft room. I wore the socks for the first time yesterday and they fit wonderfully. I don't want to ruin them so wear them only when I'm going to have shoes on. It would be too easy to wear them all the time as slippers and wear them out too soon. You're a real gem, ya know that? Thank you from the Boise Millers... I owe you pictures of your amazing gifts' display locations. I will probably wait to soak the valor quilt and we'll enjoy as is until Sean spills beer on it or something.
ReplyDeleteIt's also worth noting that the quilter's story book you sent me made me ball my eyes out last night. It's obvious that quilting is one of those saving grace things... there's a lot of comfort and wisdom there. It highlights the fact that I need to find a quilting guild to join in Boise... I think I need the influence of other quilters as I deal with life without my Mom.
